Dodge History

When you think of Ram Trucks, keep in mind that Dodge History has paved the way for the the heavy-hitting haulers that can handle the roughest and toughest roads and loads.  But what you may not know is that the Ram brand dates back many years, and as a part of the Dodge lineup, has been known for its innovation and quality since the 1900s.  From the first Dodge parts to the 2011 Cummins Diesel Engine, the Dodge and Ram brands have a rich history.

When the Dodge brothers started building parts for automobile firms in 1900, they knew that eventually they wanted to build full vehicles.  When they created the Dodge Model 30 in 1914, they instantly set themselves apart as makers of quality vehicles.  The Model 30 had a lot of innovative standard features like all-steel body constructions, 12-volt electrical systems and sliding-gear transmissions.

This focus on quality continued into the 1980s, when the Ram Truck series was created.  One of the things that set the Ram apart from other trucks was the addition of the Cummins Diesel Engine, which was designed for towing large loads.  The Ram also boasted a redesigned cab, perfect for long road trips.  When the Ram was featured on the TV show Walker, Texas Ranger, starring Chuck Norris, it quickly became known as the truck of Texas.

And now...

Today, Ram Trucks are known throughout the country and the world as a leader in quality, capacity, and all-around toughness.  When you think about southwest trucks like the Ram, you think about a truck that can handle any back country Texas road and can haul anything you need.  From the front grill to the pickup truck tailgate, the Ram is made for the rough and tumble life.

If the Dodge brothers were still around today, we’re sure they’d be proud of the truck that the Ram has become.  Their focus on quality and attention to detail shines through, even 111 years later.
