Those Mother Truckers Driving a RAM Truck

We know ladies love their trucks, and we also know some bad mother truckers who drive a RAM truck! You should be proud to be a truck girl! Strong and tough, yet comfortable and sensitive to your needs, RAM trucks have the ability to get the job done while keeping you and your kids safe, practical and economy minded but good looking. It’s tough for a man to compete!

Riding high up in a cab provides a better view of the road, giving you more time to brake and more situational awareness. With power steering, power brakes, adjustable pedals, and an adjustable steering wheel, you don’t have to be a burly construction worker to handle a RAM truck – today’s trucks are sensitive to a delicate touch! We are sure that fact contributed to RAM Trucks winning so many awards in 2012! RAM MotherTrucker Blog1 226x300 Those Mother Truckers Driving a RAM Truck

Of course, you might want your truck to do some construction work. A tough RAM Truck-driving woman loves her DYI projects, and that means hauling lumber and other materials – not a good job for a coupe or a minivan. You can load everything you need to fix up the interior or exterior of your dream home, or haul all the mulch, flowers and shrubs you want to enhance the yard around your home.

Lumber isn’t the only thing mother truckers haul in trucks. Roomy cabs have plenty of space for everything from kids and car seats to strollers, diaper bags, and the dog!  A lady who loves her truck knows a RAM Truck makes jaunts to the grocery store and soccer practice a breeze.

You can’t find a more family-friendly vehicle than a truck. It’s got a comfortable, roomy ride inside and a big bed for any type and size load on the outside. You can do it economically because your RAM Truck gets good gas mileage and, most importantly, you can do it safely. A RAM truck is a smart choice for smart moms.

We love ladies who love trucks! Leave us a comment and share how you become a super mom in your RAM truck! Oh, and if you’re in the market for a new RAM truck and didn’t get one for your mother trucker this past Mother’s Day weekend, click on the find a dealership button near you to the right and get to a RAM Southwest Dealer today!

RAM Trucks | Best Places for Fishing

At RAM Trucks, we love to share tips on tackling the great outdoors.  Since many of our loyal customers are fishing enthusiasts, we thought we would take a little time to highlight some of the best fishing spots in our RAM Southwest region. RAM Fishing Blog 300x199 RAM Trucks | Best Places for Fishing

  • ARKANSAS- The largest body of water in the state and also home to many bass tournaments is the Arkansas River.  Beaver Lake is another prime spot in AK and has given up many 40-pound-plus state record stripers.  Other popular fishing places include Bear Creek Lake, White Oak Lake, North Fork River, Spring River and the St. Francis River Sunken Lands.  Everything from crappie, to bass to trout can be caught in this area.
  • LOUISIANA- There is certainly no shortage of water in Louisiana.  The king of the bass lakes in LA is the Toledo Bend.  Home to the 2012 Bassmaster Classic is Red River, which also produces large catfish.  The Mississippi River is the place to catch the largest catfish, it’s record setter was a whopping 110 pounds.  In the summer time, Venice is the place to go for Tarpon, one of the most entertaining fish you can catch.  The Louisiana Delta and Calcasieu Lake are both excellent for Redfish and Speckled Trout.  (Yummm, anyone ready for a fish fry?!)
  • MISSISSIPPI- Lake Okhissa and the Ross Barnett Reservoir are great locations to catch crappie.  Pickwick Lake is one of the most beautiful parts of the state and considered by many to be a catfish factory.  There is an abundance of fish in the Mississippi Sound, partly due to reefs built during clean-up from Hurricane Katrina. Everything from speckled and white trout, to drum and flounder can be caught there.  For catfish, like in Louisiana, the Mississippi River is the spot.
  • OKLAHOMA- OK’s largest lake is Lake Eufaula and holds the state record for smallmouth bass and white bass.  Then there is Lake Texoma which is said to have some of the finest striper fishing in the country and holds the state record for blue catfish and black bass. Lake Broken Bow & Beaver’s bend ranks as the #1 Best Vacation Spot in Oklahoma and holds the state record for largemouth bass.
  • TEXAS- The Amistad Reservoir has been called the gem of West Texas, partly because of the climate, and partly because of its massive largemouth bass population.  In fact, many professional bass anglers who have competed here return and purchase homes in the area.  Lake Tawakoni produces great channel catfish and Lake Lavon is the spot for crappie.  In June the speckled trout action is in the San Antonio Bay.  Anyone who has ever eaten fried specks knows why these fish are so sought after.

The RAM Southwest area boasts some of the best fishing in the country.  Did we touch on any of your favorite fishing holes?  Subscribe to our blog for the latest tips, hot destinations and exclusive insights on where to take your RAM Trucks for awesome outdoor adventures!

Open Season: Best Hunting Places to Take Your RAM Trucks

Are those of you who own RAM trucks itching to go hunting? Hunters and their trucks may be the only ones disappointed to see the arrival of spring. But while the big name and big game hunting seasons might be over, don’t give up just yet. April and May just might be your chance to go after some different game.

RAM Trucks Hunting 300x200 Open Season: Best Hunting Places to Take Your RAM Trucks

The states that constitute the RAM Southwest region—Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Arkansas—still have plenty of open seasons left. So put your gear back in those RAM trucks and get ready for a hunting road trip this weekend.

Every one of the five states has turkey hunting into late April or early May. In Texas, it’s only open season in the eastern part of the state. If you’re in West Texas or the Panhandle, it might be easier to head north to Oklahoma. Maybe you can serve up some fried turkey for Mother’s Day.

Speaking of Texas, rabbits and hares are always in season. In Louisiana, its nuisance quadrupeds like coyotes, feral hogs and armadillos. Check local rules regarding hunting at night, and using lights and dogs. You might want to give the local authorities a heads-up anyway, so they aren’t surprised by calls of gunfire.

Arkansas and Mississippi have open season on bullfrogs. The beds of RAM trucks may be a little big to fill with frogs, but a cooler in the back will do nicely. When it comes to frogs, you can gig them, net them or catch them by hand. Using a bow is also an option, but we suggest you leave the shotgun in its case.

Also in Arkansas, you can bag squirrels through mid-May, and geese are good till April 25.  If you want to take aim at a bobcat, the Diamond State season continues through April 28.

All things considered, Arkansas has the most options, with Louisiana coming in second. But where in the states can you go to hunt?

For starters, there are numerous wildlife management areas in each state. These public lands are usually open to licensed hunters whenever game is in season. Texas has over 900,000 acres of public lands to hunt if you invest in a $48 annual public hunting permit.

Just a reminder, each state has its own laws, rules and regulations that sometimes vary by county. Before you load those RAM trucks and hit the road, check with local authorities. You can also get some good local hunting advice.

RAM Trucks | Season is Open: Baseball Tailgating Tips

Now that the season is in full swing, we know that many of our awesome fans will be heading out to the ballpark in their RAM Trucks to catch some baseball action.  Equally RAM BAseball1 300x225 RAM Trucks | Season is Open: Baseball Tailgating Tipsimportant, if not more so, is what happens before the game: tailgating!  At RAM Southwest, we’ve put together some tips to ensure that your next tailgate will be a blast.

  • Pregame: Before you head to the game, make a list of everything you plan to take along. Organization makes tailgating super fun.
  • Get Covered: Being outdoors, whether it’s sunny or overcast, puts everyone in your group at-risk for sunburn and other sun-related skin issues. Apply sunblock liberally to protect your body from powerful UV rays. If there are children in your group, make sure they apply sunscreen to their faces, especially on the top of the nose and on their arms.
  • Parking:  Plan ahead and arrive early.  If possible, park near restrooms.  You don’t want to spend the entire day walking back and forth to the bathroom—not to mention waiting in the inevitable lines.
  • Set-Up: Everything you need should easily fit in your spacious RAM Truck bed.  A grill, charcoal, chairs, and an ice chest are the essentials.  A folding table or two is also a good idea.
  • Drinks: And no, not just beer. Baseball season is HOT! Bring plenty of water in addition to whatever adult beverages and sodas your group prefers. Adequate hydration is very important when you’re hanging out in the sun for long hours.
  • Food: Most tailgaters’ favorite part!  It doesn’t get more all-American than hamburgers and hot dogs. If you are going to physically grill at the game, make sure you have a cooler for the meat; don’t risk the meat spoiling or getting too hot prior to putting it on the fire. Whatever meat you choose, don’t forget the sides. Chips are easy and good to have on hand to snack on throughout the day. If you bring potato salad, veggies or a fruit tray, remember to store them in the cooler as well.
  • Keep it Clean: Paper towels, wet wipes for messy hands, and even kitchen grade antibacterial wipes are great to have on hand, especially if there are children along for the fun!
  • Entertainment: Be sure to crank the tunes on crystal-clear XM Satellite Radio in your RAM Truck for everyone’s listening pleasure. Tailgate games such as beanbag toss, ladder golf, or just bringing a Frisbee to throw around will keep everyone entertained until the game starts.
  • Keep it Neat: Get everything you brought packed up and put away before you go into the stadium; you may not feel like cleaning up after you have watched nine innings (or more) of baseball action.  If the grill is still hot, leave it by the truck, not under the truck. Leaving the grill under the truck is a major safety risk.

We’d love to know, what are some other tips you use to make your tailgating events awesome? Leave a comment and let us know!

RAM Trucks | Accessories: Truck Liners

Here at RAM Trucks, we want to make sure that you are not only protecting your investment, but also made aware of the options available to help you do so.  Your truck bed can quickly become an eyesore if it doesn’t have some type of bed liner to protect it from shifting cargo.  Since there are several types of liners available in a wide price range, let’s look at the specific features of a few of them to help you select the liner that best suits your needs.

  • Bed Mats: These are at the lowest price point and protect the floor of your truck bed, not the sides.  They will protect against everything from scratches to most chemical spills, and they are slip resistant.  Bed mats are available for your tailgate as well.  Installation requires minimal effort.
  • BedRug Mat: This is a stylish yet rugged option that drops into place easily. Resistant to mud, chemicals and water, these rugs will not cause rust.  They’re also extremely slip resistant and easy to clean. They are a good complement to a spray-on or plastic liner as added scratch and impact protection.
  • Bed Liner:  Provides full bed coverage protection. Bed liners also drop into place.  They start at around $400.  Bed liners will prevent dents, scratches and corrosion, and they are also slip resistant.  Though most should fit snugly, some truck owners still say that the fit is not perfect, which can cause water buildup underneath and rust. Also, if the fit is not snug, it can rub off the paint on the truck at the contact points.
  • Spray-On Bedliner:  Full protection of the truck bed. With this option there is no risk of rust or water buildup. These also offer the same guarantees of chemical, dent and scratch protection. These are at the highest price point.  At RAM Trucks, spray-on bedliners are offered as a factory option.

RAM Southwest is here to offer the facts, regardless of which option you choose.  Let us know what truck liner you prefer!  For more tips on upgrading your RAM Trucks with the best accessories subscribe to our blog and follow us on Twitter.
